Frequently asked questions and objections (and how I answer them):

I'm not fit enough for Pilates!

Pilates at your own pace. My sessions are for "real" people with real goals and problems. You don't have to be athletic, slim or flexible to start Pilates. I pick you up where you are right now. We build up your training and you learn Pilates from the basic exercises to more challenging movements. It's not about doing everything perfectly. The aim is rather to make your everyday life easier with Pilates training.

Isn't that the same as yoga?

Both forms of exercise are unique and wonderful. I practise both and it's not Pilates versus yoga, but Pilates and yoga. Even if some exercises look similar, they usually have different goals.
The biggest difference is that in Pilates, mat training is or should only be part of the Pilates practice. A variety of Pilates equipment and aids (Reformer, Cadillac, various chairs and barrels, Foot-Corrector etc.) help us to learn the most difficult form of Pilates training, the mat series. In Pilates, we always move outwards from the center of the body. Regular practice strengthens the muscles that we rarely use and thus helps to improve our posture. Imbalances in the body are corrected, reducing pain and preventing injuries. The concentration and control required to perform the exercises makes us more mindful and relaxes our mind.
The yoga practice is more spiritual, also strength-based, and above all improves flexibility. It is worth trying out a few yoga styles beforehand. A well-trained teacher who keeps an eye on your posture should be a prerequisite for safe practice in both yoga and Pilates.
There are also different styles of Pilates. With me, you will learn the original, classical method, in which I was also trained.
Pilates training gives you the strength and flexibility to take this with you into everyday life, but also into other sports!

Probably just another exercise trend that bores me quickly.

Experience variety in every movement. Even the basic exercises are challenging, as long as they are performed from the center of the body and with control. Joseph Pilates called his training "Contrology" at the time, which emphasizes the importance of quality over quantity when exercising. Pilates is a functional full-body workout, the intensity of which can be individually controlled. The movements look easy, but are challenging and mentally balancing, not least because of the concentration, breathing and precision required. The training on the many machines (only in the Pilates studio), more than 500 different exercises and the focus on specific topics can even make you really sweat!
The popularity of Pilates is increasing, particularly due to social media trends such as "reformer Pilates" or "wall Pilates". However, these types of training are only a small part of the overall holistic method, which was developed by Joseph Pilates over 100 years ago.
